The short version
This site carries no advertising and asks you for nothing. It does count its visitors, which the next section describes — with software we run ourselves, on our own server, so that nothing about your visit reaches a third party. Apart from that counter the site loads no external script, frame or font. We know nothing personal about you until you buy or write.
What the site stores
The language is part of the address — /en, /fr, /de — so there is no language preference to remember. The only thing written into your browser is the audience-measurement cookie described below, and the refusal cookie if you ask not to be counted.
Audience measurement
This site uses Matomo, an open-source analytics program we host ourselves. It is not Google Analytics and it is not a service: the software runs on VO10 Labs' own server, the data is written to our own database, and none of it is sent anywhere else — not to a provider, not to an advertiser, not outside the European Union.
It runs in the configuration French regulators require for analytics to be exempt from consent, which is why you were not shown a cookie banner. In practice: two bytes of your IP address are masked before anything is written, so the address is never stored; there is no visitor profile, no visit log, no session recording, no heatmap and no user ID; only the domain of the page that sent you is kept, never the full address; screen resolution and device model are not collected; and nothing is ever cross-referenced with orders or with any other site.
What is left is a count: how many people came, which pages they read, from which country, on which kind of device. A first-party cookie, kept at most thirteen months, is what lets us tell one returning reader from two new ones. Raw data is deleted after twenty-five months. We use it to decide what to write next and what to fix — never to identify you.
Not being counted
You can opt out below. The choice is remembered in a cookie set for this purpose alone; clearing your browser's cookies clears it too, and you would need to come back here. Content blockers also stop the script from loading, and a browser sending Do Not Track is respected without your having to do anything.
The checkout
This site does not process payments and loads nothing from anywhere else. The buy buttons are ordinary links to Gumroad, Inc., our merchant of record. Once you are on Gumroad, it processes the data you enter — name, email, billing address, payment details — as data controller for that transaction, under its own privacy notice. Nothing you type there passes through this site or its server.
What we receive
From Gumroad: your name, email address, country and the details of the order. We use them to answer support requests and to tell you when the version you bought has been updated. We do not sell them, do not share them with anyone else, and do not send marketing about unrelated products. Every such email carries an unsubscribe link.
The software itself
MaxTracker does not phone home. It has no activation, no licence check, no telemetry and no network access of any kind. Nothing about your Sets, your patterns or your machine ever leaves your computer.
Retention
Order records are kept as long as accounting law requires. Support email is kept as long as it is useful and deleted afterwards.
Your rights
Access, correction, deletion, portability and objection: write to the address on the support page, or to Gumroad for anything relating to the transaction itself.
